Brief description of the main theme of this meeting:
This workshop aims to bring together people from different fields (applied mathematics, quantum optics, condensed matter physics and statistical physics) and to combine their respective expertise in order to summarize the state-of-the-art, and identify new directions, in the study of the dynamics in chaotic and stochastic systems. Many different aspects of the problems will be considered, as transport in chaotic systems, anomalous diffusion, the ratchet effect, synchronization, and the effects of disorder.
Postdocs and PhD students from different backgrounds will be strongly encouraged to participate. In this way, they will have the opportunity to learn about the different aspects of the problem of dynamics in chaotic and stochastic systems, and they will hear from experts in the field what the challenges of the future are. We also expect a significant attendance from senior researchers, mostly from the London area, active in the study of chaotic and stochastic systems. The interaction with other researchers will also allow the participants to identify common research interests and initiate new collaborations.

A tube strike has been announced to commence at 18.59 hours on Tuesday 9 June through to 18.58 hours on Thursday 11 June 2009. That is, there should be no trouble to get to the workshop, and if you leave after the final talk around 17.30h you should also be able to get back without any problems. All talks will be held in seminar room M203 (second floor) of the Department of Mathematics at Queen Mary University of London. The welcome, lunch and tea break will be in the common room M103.
