Writing a protocol

The protocol for the experiment should include at least the following headings, many of which are interrelated.

  • What is the purpose of the experiment?
  • What are the treatments?
  • Methods
  • What are the experimental units?
  • What are the observational unit?
  • What measurements are to be recorded?
  • What is the design?
  • Justification for the design
  • Randomization used
  • Plan
  • Proposed statistical analysis
