Who am I?
I am Professor in Mathematics in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary and Westfield College in the University of London. I obtained my first degree (Diploma in Mathematics) from Kharkov National University (Ukraine) and my second degree (PhD in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics) from the Institute for Low Temperature Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. My dissertation was about phase transitions in multicomponent lattice systems under the supervision of Leonid Pastur. A brief historical note about mathematics (and low temperature physics) in Kharkov can be found on a specially dedicated page posted on the ILTP web site.
I worked for about 10 years as a research fellow in the Mathematical Division at the Institute for Low Temperature Physics, first in the department of Mathematical Physics and then in the department of Statistical Methods in Mathematical Physics before moving to Queen Mary and Westfield College in 1996.
I am currently Head of School. Some relevant links for students and academic staff can be found on the left.
